With an ever expanding list of available tracks and cars, the CMS simulator is extremely useful in track recognition for less experienced drivers as well as those visiting a new or unfamiliar circuit. A concern is that at least the first hour and set of tyres is wasted at the track due to inadequate circuit knowledge. With a set of tyres costing upwards of £800 and practice session time invaluable, a day or half day in a simulated environment is of definite benefit.
