Will using a simulator improve my lap times?

The CMS simulator allows improvements to be made to lap times in a number of ways. Using the CMS simulator regularly will not only allow drivers to maximise their time at the track but the increased communication available between the driver, driver coach and race engineer whilst in the simulator gives a much improved environment. The CMS simulator provides the driver with both onset and sustained g-cueing and as such gives a much greater feel of the cars behaviour. Spending time in the simulator allows the driver to tune into this feel and this experience translates directly to the real car on the track.

How is the session planned out?

The simulator can be booked in either half day or full day slots and up to two drivers can use the simulator per half day. After a short introduction presentation the simulator will be available for your slot to run whatever tests that you require.

Although we will be on hand with advice of how to get the most out of your session it is up to you to decide the structure that suits you best. A simulation engineer will be with you at all times to run the simulator and provide any data logging that you require.

Can I bring my own race engineer?

Yes. You are welcome to bring your own race engineer and driver coach. They will be able to communicate with you from the control room over the radio or if you prefer they can be in the sim room with you. CMS is able to supply a race engineer and driver coach for your session if you do not have one.

I am developing a new concept/component, how can I benefit from your system?

We are able to put hardware in the loop and as such take data from the simulator in real time and apply relevant loads/pressures/temperatures/etc to your component. We can do this either in our test facility or via the internet to your local facility.

Will the simulator be of benefit to me if I am not a single seat driver?

The CMS simulator is an excellent tool for drivers and race engineers in all racing series. Although the physical environment that you will be in will be of a single seater, the CMS simulator is able to replicate the physics and performance of a large range of cars. If we do not have a stock car that is suitable for your training then a consultation with our vehicle dynamics team will allow a bespoke model to be made for you. This model will then be saved for you to use every time you come.

Why should I use the CMS simulator?

The CMS simulator provides all of the performance benefits of a 6 degree of freedom simulator but at the cost of a static simulator. This allows us to give drivers a very realistic and cost effective simulation experience.

Is my lap data confidential?

Yes. At CMS we are dedicated to ensure that any information gained from your simulator session is treated in strict confidence. We have experience working with a large number of motorsport teams including those from both Formula 1 and NASCAR.

Can I take away data logged from my session?

Yes. All data gathered from your simulator session is  included. Data is logged into MoTeC format and replay files will be supplied in .avi format. A copy of this data will also be kept at CMS for you to use at your next session.

There have been changes to my car affecting the dynamics and control, how close can you get to simulating these?

At CMS we are able to accurately model your car giving a realistic driving experience. If you then make any changes to the setup we can make real time changes to the model for investigation on its effects on the track.

How long have you been developing this technology?

We have been developing motion cueing products for thirty years across motorsport and aerospace in order to provide both onset and sustained g-cues.
